Anonymous asked: Anonyupload: The perfect way for the US Government to gather information about file sharers both legal and illegal.

Right now there are a lot of people that are trying to benefit from the mass panic that has spread since the Megaupload take down. We can’t let these people (government or not) allow things to spiral into chaos.

I for one think we need to stick together, stay vigilant and do whatever we can to express our outrage at what is going on worldwide with ACTA, SOPA & PIPA. As for Anon, I’m no hacker and I really don’t know who the hacktivism will benefit in the end, so I’ll just sit tight and enjoy the show.

Guess who originally distributed filesharing software? Even inducing and encouraging people to download copyrighted material!

Anonymous asked: Large copyright holders don't realise that trying to end all copyright violations removes one of the biggest avenues of profit - word-of-mouth exposure. Not only that, outright theft doesn't replace legitimate purchasing. It replaces non-consumption. With so much on offer, it's easy not to purchase what you don't want to pay for.

Anon, you nailed it!

Anonymous asked: Thanks, Radical. It makes me so very fucking angry. This is completely outside due process of democracy. It effectively adds a new global court system about copyright violation. And its scope is terrifying GENERIC FUCKING MEDICINES, I CAN'T MAKE MY OWN PILLS! DO THEY EVEN KNOW HOW UNAFFORDABLE THE NAME BRANDS ARE? FUUUUUUCK.

I guess one thing to find comfort in is the fact that it’s not a law, but a treaty. And like other treaties there is always the possibility that they are ignored (the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, NPT, for one is signed by several countries that in direct violation with it continued producing nuclear weapons).

On a bit more negative note, unfortunately there is a strong lobby in the form of RIAA, MPAA etc. that will surely try to use this trade agreement to continue targeting filesharing like they’ve done with napster, CDs and casette tapes before that. The big difference is that the laws and treaties signed during those eras were really quite toothless.

But like I said, together we stand united! It’s time for the media conglomerates to realize that content and copyright needs to get updated, and that intellectual property rights should exist to benefit the creator instead of restricting and crippling creativity.

Anonymous asked: ACTA IS DONE, SIGNED, AND ON ITS WAY AS OF OCTOBER LAST YEAR. COUNTRIES CAN JOIN IT WHENEVER THEY WANT UNTIL 2013. WE ARE ALL FUCKED.

Hold it together Anon, don’t lose hope!

We managed to sway the congress opinion in regards to SOPA/PIPA. So it’s time to express the publics opinion of ACTA and the secrecy that surrounded the creation and signing of those papers, and to put into question how countries that at least claim to aspire democracy and freedom sign treaties written by negotiators who aren’t even democratically elected representatives.

And hey, if all else fails, there is always civil disobedience! We don’t even have to bring the fighting to us, they already did!

It might sound naive, but I shall remain ever the optimist!
